What Are the Different Types of Bag Filters?

Bag filters find extensive application across various industries for water treatment purposes. Customers highly favor bag filters due to their compact size, convenient and quick bag replacement, lack of cleaning requirements, low operating costs, as well as their robustness and durability. Below, we classify bag filters from different perspectives and briefly introduce the principles of some commonly used bag filters.

Classification of Bag Filters: Bag filters can be classified in several ways, such as by filter bag type, filter barrel material, or installation connection method.

By Filter Bag Type

Single bag filter, Duplex bag filter and Multi-bag filter. Generally, the more filter bags, the larger the water processing capacity. The filtering function corresponds to the different filter bag materials. Multi-bag filters can equip 2 to 36 filter bags. We can design quick-opening multi-bag filters, making the replacement of filter bags very convenient, suitable for sites with long usage cycles. The main materials of filter bags include: PET fiber filter bags; PP microfiber filter bags, commonly known as non-woven fabric filter bags; nylon monofilament filter bags; and special high-temperature resistant polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filter bags.

By Installation Connection Method

Side-entry bag filter and Top-entry bag filter. Side-entry stainless steel filters use a side-entry and bottom-out method. The principle is to press or draw the filtered liquid medium into the filter barrel through the pressure in the pipeline. The liquid medium passes through the filter bag supported by stainless steel plate-punched supporting baskets, achieving ideal solid-liquid separation and effectively filtering the liquid medium.Top-entry bag filters allow liquid to enter from the top, then pass through the filter bag for filtration, and finally discharge from the bottom or side. This design allows liquids to be effectively filtered inside the bag filter and also facilitates the replacement and maintenance of the filter bags.

By Filter Housing Construction Material

Stainless steel bag filter and Plastic bag filter. Stainless steel bag filters are cast from SUS304/316/316L stainless steel material, with a simple structure and easy operation. They are suitable for solid-liquid separation in industries such as food and beverage, urban water supply, industrial water, electronics, automotive, paint and coatings, and ink. Plastic bag filters utilize PP (polypropylene) material, allowing them to meet the filtration requirements of many chemical acidic and alkaline liquids owing to PP’s chemical resistance. With an integrated housing, seamless and without dead angles, precise specifications, they are a high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective product suitable for solid-liquid separation in industries such as industrial water, seawater, ink, and adhesive.
